Bring back option to change status and make other edits at the same time (BB-5047)

Issue #4388 resolved
Marcin Kuzminski created an issue

This was very usefull, and it's really annoying you need to do extra few clicks to comment, and close or reject an issue. Please bring back option to comment & change status at the same time

I'm not sure if if this is what @marcinkuzminski had in mind, but you still can't comment and change the workflow state at the same time.

exactly, i wrote about changing status and commenting, so it's not implemented yet

We have already added back the ability to comment when editing an issue. We will be bringing back the ability to comment when transitioning an issue through workflow.

We will not be bringing back the ability to edit the issue and transition at the same time.

Why not? Why would you screw up functionality for people who want it? Just let us have the ability to mark resolved/change status and re-assign in one go, it's not like your precious UX is going to be destroyed or something.

All you have to do is not hide the workflow controls when you open up the edit box. It's that simple. Apologies for the anger, but marking issues is many little annoyances in a day full of stressful work, if someone makes that much more annoying for no reason at all other than keeping the UI slightly cleaner then that is pretty ridiculous.

This has really been a step backwards. I've just spent the morning clearing up some of our issue queue and it's taking longer than it should do. The frustrating thing is that there doesn't seem to be any good reason for the change other than some designer decided it was prettier. It's also bad UX design practise to have any destructive that happens without confirmation from the user, which is what happens when you enter a comment, forget to Commit and click on the Resolve or Workflow buttons.

Basically, many of us would prefer to get on with coding, not having to deal with the vagaries if an Issue Tracking system.
