Colons in the link URL of Markdown text don't get rendered correctly (BB-5921)

Issue #4928 resolved

If you use a colon in a URL for a link on the README, the resulting link when the page is rendered won't be correct.

To workaround, escape any special characters in the URL. For example, a : can be replaced with %3A.

There was a question whether colons are or are not allowed in URLs for uses other then URI scheme separator and it seems that they can be used, see for instance So this is probably a BitBucket bug.

    Try pasting this into

It works there so it probably should here on BitBucket too.
