Issue #4992 wontfix

Add possibility of adding watchers to a ticket (other than one's self) (BB-6234)

Thomas Woodard
created an issue

It would be very useful if I can add certain people as watchers of a ticket. For example, sometimes I will assign an issue to another developer, but I want to add the PM or QA as watchers.

Right now I only have the possibility of adding myself as a watcher.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for voting and commenting on this issue. Your feedback is key to helping us understand how you use Bitbucket so we can continue improving your experience. We have reviewed this issue; however there are not currently any plans to implement this suggestion.

We recommend using "@mentions" in the description of an issue to notify end users about the issue being created, so the recipients can then decide if they want to watch the issue.

I understand that our decision may be disappointing. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

I think if you mention the member using @ then they are added as watchers in the issue

Nope. They will get a notification for the comment in which they are mentioned, but they are not added as watchers.

You can assign one by one and finally assign it to the person who will work on it. All previously assigned users will be in watch list.

This works indeed, but is too tedious...

It is sad that Atlassian unilaterally decided they won't fix this issue as it is one that the most requested here. :-(

Is there a way to have "non-users" be notified by email with the @mentions technique?
