Code Snippits in comments (BB-6762)

Issue #5546 invalid

Would like to be able to insert a code snippit into a comment similar to how it works in Crucible. The wiki syntax for this works great, but is not a simple as the push button approach from Crucible.

    Hi Adam,

I am not sure if I understand what you are asking for.

We do allow code blocks in comments. Comments are just markdown.

We are rolling out the quick syntax toolbar to all comments soon, perhaps that is what you are looking for?

If I have misunderstood please feel free to clarify and reopen the issue.

This goes hand-in-hand with my other proposal (BB-6759) for comments on multiple lines of code. Since the team has considered BB-6759 and elected to not pursue it, then I need to reconsider my request.

I guess the issue really comes down to how easy it is to insert a code block. The markdown works great, but is a bit of a hassle from a formatting perspective. By which I mean it is not easy to paste in a block of code. I have to paste in the block of code and then carefully space the code until it is at least 4 spaces in (so that it is evaluated properly by the markdown) and then the rest of the indentation has to be handled after that. Since I cannot press tab in the field to move the code around, this is a bit cumbersome. If I could paste in a code block, select multiple lines of the code block, and then hit tab to indent the selected lines... I think I would be satisfied.

I am not sure what is in your quick syntax toolbar, but if it makes that process easier, that would be great.
