Emacs-style keyboard shortcuts not working in Firefox with "Search for text when I start typing" enabled (BB-7952)

None of the Emacs-style key combinations is working, they always bring up the "search by typing" search on the first character instead of starting a key combination.

For example G - I

• As soon as I type the G, the search box pops up with a G in it (of course)
• This only occurs when the option "Search for text when I start typing" in the Advanced > General option panel is enabled.
• In Gmail those kind of short-cuts do work even with the option enabled, so it is possible
