The getting started how-to page should mention that you first need to run:

git init.

Otherwise one gets:

git remote add origin fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

    Hi David,

    Thanks for the feedback!

    That quick tutorial is intended to be used when you have an existing Git repo. In that case, you wouldn't need to run "git init".

    We've pushed out some changes to the language to make that clearer.
