Creating new pull requests is sometimes very slow

I'm creating a pull request right now. The "Create pull request" button is grayed out, and I see the waiting ajax animation. It's been about 2 minutes now and counting.

Typical time is more like 10-20 seconds - still way too slow, but sometimes (like now) it's a bit ridiculous.

Is there any way to make this faster?
