more community features on bitbucket

Issue #862 resolved

created an issue

i was wondering, if maybe bitbucket could provide some more community features:

  • like voting for best projects monthly
  • make project spotlights
  • maybe something more that comes to your mind ?
  • "looking for volunteers" so developers can search and clearly see that a project is currently looking for participators

im sure there are many interesting projects out there that without any advertising like that wont see the broader audience

also that would make bitbucket stronger in general and maybe encourage the community for better activity.

I was also wondering if there is place for a very simple forum for projects ? issue tracker is not that bad for discussion, but forum would be a better place, event the simpliest forum would do i guess.

another idea for 'community" features that i thought off recently, and that would be 30 mins to implement would be the ability to flag projects as "looking for volunteers"

so ppl can search and clearly see that a project is currently looking for participators

I just want to add my vote that these are good ideas. github does a great job at promoting not just projects but also their services by blogging about projects. And I'm sure they find those by looking at more of the "social network" metrics they have. Even simple things like projects with the most followers, most active members, each month would make a difference.
