Issue #8919 invalid

Slow network speeds in China (BB-10115)

ravidte-owmessaging
created an issue

Hey Guys,

I know this topic has been opened previously, but from the tickets I saw, there has been no resolution on this.

Bitbucket has been good to us, but I did not see any obvious warning of it's usage outside the US which would have been a major blocker with us choosing Bitbucket as our repo choice.

Please work with us to figure out some sort of workaround or better a permanent solution so others can benefit. I'm fairly quick with responses so I can help out in whatever debugging is neccessary (I can be available during China hours, since I'm located in EST, to help gather more debugging information).

Thanks, ~Ravid

Hi Ravid -- it would be helpful if you could provide us with route data about where the connection slows down. Could you email (jstepka@atlassian.com) with the specifics? Maybe we can open a ticket with our internet provider.

Cheers, Justen -- Bitbucket product manager

    Hi there,

I can confirm accessing Bitbucket repos from China barely works. My guess is that its related to using https which could cause the chinese firewall to cut the connection.

From Shanghai we get "fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly" in ~70 to 80% of cases. Is there any way to pull / push using http instead of https ?

    Thanks
