Issue #8998 resolved

Pushing a 2 MB commit fails with Write failed: Connection reset by peer

Dean Schulze
created an issue

I'm trying to push a 2 MB commit to a private repo. that I've been using for a few weeks. All attempts to push have failed with:

Write failed: Connection reset by peer fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

The compression step is slower than I've ever seen it too.

I've never seen anything like this with git. Do I need to do some repo cleanup or optimization?

I'm using git 1.7.9 on cygwin64 on Windows 7 enterprise.

I was finally able to push last night. I ran a speed check and I had 4.7 MB upstream at the time of the failed pushes, so it wasn't a bad connection on my end. Maybe some temporary slowness on your side?

I've used git on cygwin for almost a year with no issues until last night.

That might be the case. I'll follow up with our operations team and see if there were any blips in service. Thanks for following up. I'm resolving this issue for now, but feel free to re-open it if you experience more problems.
