Issue #9232 closed

Have repo JIRA link support comma-separated list of multiple project keys (BB-10331)

Ben Tatham
created an issue

On the Settings (gear) -> Links page of a repository:

It would be very helpful to allow a list (comma or pipe separated, perhaps) of JIRA project keys when creating/editing a Link to JIRA.

Currently, you either have to create a whole series of JIRA Links (all with the same URL), or use a Custom Link with a crazy regex like this:

((?<!\w)((MPH|CENT|TTXT|TTCW|TTEA|TSMA)-\d+)(?!\w))

As you point out, there are already 2 ways to link a repository to more than one JIRA project.

How many projects do you need to link, such that creating several separate links is becoming a burden?

Many, say >10. We have a lot of shared libraries (each in a separate git repo), in which a bug may be raised from any number of the >10 products. (We don't track the shared libraries in JIRA directly, because there is no way to have tracked/versioned sub-projects in JIRA). Another solution is to have one bigger repo, but with Maven projects, it's nice to have one Maven project per git repo (we do just multi-module, but there becomes a point where it's still nicer to break them down further).

If it makes a difference, we are a paying OnDemand customer using JIRA, Bamboo, and Bitbucket. But in the end, this is relatively minor - as you say, there are workarounds. Just thought it would be easy to implement (without prejudging the backend complexity too much).
