Invalid branch name, when trying to create a branch. (BB-10482)

Issue #9465 open
jonathan created an issue

If you try to create a branch with a name that has limitations according to the options picked in "Limit pushes to specific users and groups", you get a non-informative error message.

It says "Invalid branch name", instead of something more useful such as "You are not allowed to create a branch with this name because of X rule"

Thanks for the suggestion. The error message certainly could be improved upon.

Already voted. Please fix this issue, due to this I cannot create release branch in my repo. Only one repo has shown this behaviour, other repos are working fine till now.

    Regards.

I am getting this problem as well. It is happening on a branch name which works on other projects, just not one of them.
