Issue #9854 closed
Bas Rieter created an issue

Some users cannot post comments to issues. I have 2 accounts and one of those accounts can't post any comments. I get javascript error after reloading a issue. I tried both Firefox and Chrome, multiple PC's.

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'target' of undefined aui-stable.js:3642

    Hi @basrieter,

Can you send me the username of the other account (other than basrieter) and the name of the repository you are attempting to post a comment to?

I suspect you are trying to post an issue comment to a private issue tracker. The following is a quote from the text above the issue tracker settings for a repo:

For a private tracker, a user's access to the code repository also applies to the tracker.

If you do not have write access to a repo with a private issue tracker, you will not be able to create a comment on an issue.

    I hope this helps.

That's interesting. You said you are unable to post comments; are you able to see the comment box and click on it? It would be great if you could send some screenshots and possibly the stacktrace of that error.

I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the time you are taking to report this issue. Thank you.

I was not able to see the comment box at all. But now, when I wanted to get the stack-trace, it all seems to be working again. Could that be?

I believe the last comment I made should solve the issue. If that is not the case, please feel free to reopen this issue.

No, I disagree. I don't want anonymous comments. I want users that are logged in on Bitbucket to be able to comment. And not everyone that is logged on can do that every now and then.

I see. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll make an internal issue about this and add it to our backlog. Thank you for reporting this and sorry for the inconvenience.
