Issue #9970 resolved

unable to create temporary file: No space left on device (again)

David David
created an issue

Since the last issue (#8121) was marked as resolved I figured a new one should be raised.

Getting:

Pushing to git@bitbucket.org:XXX.git remote: error: unable to create temporary file: No space left on device
remote: fatal: failed to write object

Same, I'm noticing that the problem only occurs on some repositories though, so we're thinking of creating a new (temporary) repository and push to that one. Though I'm not sure if this is a good idea, if the problem is that there's no disk space on a certain server, then the same thing could happen on other servers as well.

Dimitri M I guess it depends on how desperate you are to have changes checked in to a central/remote site. I agree it's very likely that it could happen to any other repo. Personally I try to avoid doing anything on my end that will complicate my life ;)

The last time this happened it took a while to fix - but maybe no one actually reported it as a fresh bug and so nobody at Atlassian saw it...

David David True, the problem is that we're working in a team, so our local repository is not enough and currently we're blocked since we cannot share our code. Let's hope that it gets fixed pretty soon.

    Happening to me also.

remote: error: unable to create temporary file: No space left on device remote: fatal: failed to write object error: unpack failed: unpack-objects abnormal exit

I think the issue itself is not resolved (at least not the source of the problem), anyhow, I can push again, so it looks to be working again (but for how long).

Also, in another forked repository, I tried to do a sync with master. It was stuck forever. I gave up and chose to recreate the forked repository, as I did not have any changes of mine, but wanted to be in sync with master. I deleted my forked repository. Tried to recreate the fork. Horror: the fork failed saying "Something went wrong". It left a bad state. Now I have a dysfunctional fork, which throws "Something went wrong" even if I just try to access it.

Which issue is happening for you guys? "unable to create temporary file" during git pull or doing sync with master ends up with "something went wrong"?
