lmf / Version-Numbering

Versions meaning in LMF

The Linked Media Frameworks versions are composed as "A.B.C", where:

  • A denotes the version.
  • All versions 1.x were actually KiWi, the former project.
  • Since 2.x the project is known as LMF.
  • After the release 2.6, the Linked Data capabilities where contributed to the Apache Software Foundation as [[Apache Marmota|Apache Marmotta]].
  • Version 3.x is a major architecture refactorization, where LMF becomes a framework for advanced Linked Media Management bundling some key open source projects (Apache Marmotta, Apache Stanbol and Apache Solr).
  • B denotes a major revision, where even numbers are public releases, while odd numbers are used for development snapshots or internal deployments.
  • C indicated minor revisions (bug fixes, security updates and so on). All versions with the -SNAPSHOT suffix are development snapshots that should not be used in production systems.
