Improve Knowledge.Bio r3.xlarge server performance using available resources

The r3.xlarge server has 80GB of SSD instance storage and supports "TRIM" access (look this up)

Could this somehow be leveraged to increase server performance?

In particular, perhaps the server's swap volume (which is only ~65GB) could be placed there? Could any second level database caches also be put there?
