horizontal scrolling jumping

Testing on Safari and Chrome on Mac.

The horizontal scrolling approach used on the site (including current signup home page), and e.g. http://sciencegamelab.org/games/ is causing some problems.

When scrolling up and down, the views pans smoothly to the left/right.

When attempting to directly scroll to the left and right (which is the natural tendency as you can see there is stuff to the right), it jumps back and forth and is hard to get to where you want to be.

Hoping this could be a simple setting in the UI control to make the left/right scroll event = the current up/down event.
