If you live in a seismic zone, secure it to a wall or other fixed object with strapping. Connect the white wire from the main electrical panel to the terminal marked L2. Connect bare copper ground wire from the main panel and the ground from the pump to the well water pressure tank hook up grounding post located on the base of the pressure switch. You need to adjust the bladder pressure of the empty tank to conform to the cut-in pressure of the pump, however. Measure the bladder pressure of the tank by fitting a bicycle tire pressure gauge on the tank air valve. Wrap plumbing tape around the adapter threads and hold the elbow steady with one wrench while you tighten on the adapter with another. As the tank is filled, the water pressure increases within it. Tighten the terminal screw. For most residential uses, one with presets of 40 to 60 psi is a good choice. Turn off electrical power to the well circuit at the main panel. Run pipe between the pump outlet and tank inlet, connecting it with appropriate well water pressure tank hook up. Open the valve to the storage tank and turn on the pump. Connect the black wire from the main electrical panel to the terminal marked L1. Loosen all the screws on the pressure switch terminal bus using a screwdriver. Lift the cover straight up from the switch and set aside. When the pressure falls to 40 psi, the switch energizes the pump circuit and the cycle repeats itself. Remove the cover retaining nut from the top of the pressure switch with the combination pliers. Let air out of the tank until this pressure is 2 to 4 psi below the cut-in pressure for the pump, which is the lower of its pressure settings. As water is used, the pressure in the tank decreases. They may be listed on the box or the instruction manual, or they may be imprinted on the pump itself. Tighten the terminal screw. Tighten the terminal screw. Insert the wires from the main panel into the cable clamp on the side nearest the L1 terminal connection. Open the dater to the storage tank and turn on the pump. Pull the wiring through the cable clamps up to the sheathing. Loosen all the screws on the pressure switch terminal bus using a screwdriver.
