Stop using gnome-common

Jan Tojnar created an issue

gnome-common is deprecated in favour of macros that are now part of autotools, the project should eventually migrate to those:

or directly to Meson:

https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/GnomeGoals/MesonPorting

That would allow distributions to drop gnome-common.
