Setuptools creates a wrapper script to go in the moral equivalent of /usr/local/bin. It appears to be a simple wrapper around the installed module/package with some version requirements included. For people trying to debug installation problems (who are not the Distribute/setuptools installers) it would be helpful if that generated script included the version of setuptools used and the originator of setuptools (Distribute, in this case). All setuptools reports as its version is "0.6", which is insufficient to distinguish the original setuptools from the Distribute fork.
