Uncheck “Require admin authentication”. This fixes GrowlMail installation.

Added a blank echo before the note about the sudo command.
boredzo
This echo needs an @ in order to prevent make from printing the entire echo command before running it.

Added a Growl notification to the Growl Release Makefile.

Changed Release Makefile to allow building a Growl disk image as a regular (non-admin) user. Hit ctrl-d at the sudo prompt. Note that this means that you won't be able to install a working GrowlSafari from the resulting disk image on Leopard.

Updated the version number in GAC and growlnotify.

Corrected encoding of all GrowlSafari Localizable.strings files: .strings files are UTF-16. Also, fixed the format of most of them: key and value must be separated by '=', not '-'.

Corrected CFBundleExecutable for the SMS display. This *should* fix loading it into both GHA and the prefpane.

Disabled installation to /Library, which doesn't work since 10.5.3 (if not all of Leopard). We need to turn on EnableBundles and set the BundleCompatibilityVersion, and our postflight script does those in /Library/Preferences if we install the /Library—but 10.5.3's defaults system ignores /Library/Preferences, so Mail-bundles continue to not work. I'm leaving the /Library/Preferences code in the postflight script because Tiger doesn't allow installation to ~/Library: it will always install to /Library/Mail/Bundles, so we should put the preferences in /Library as well. On Tiger, that will work just fine.

Don't delete /Library/Mail/Bundles/GrowlMail.mailbundle before installing. Probably would fix the same “Install Failed” problem that the Growl installer had, if we were going to keep supporting that destination in the first place.

Fixed comma splice in GrowlUDPPathway “can't bind” error message.

Changed OpenGrowlPrefPane to use symbols instead of literals for the Apple Event four-char-codes.

Added a comment explaining why we go through System Configuration to get the home directory.

Executable built from r4865.

Worked around Installer's “Install Failed” problem: 1. Don't EVER delete the /Library prefpane. If we're installing to ~/L/PP, it won't do any harm (~/L/PP/Growl.prefPane should always take precedence), we don't have root powers to delete it with anyway, and it's correct to leave a local installation while installing a user installation, because the latter may be newer (admin not keeping Growl up-to-date). 2. Only delete the ~/Library prefpane when…

A replacement for the full-of-fail PackageMaker workflow: A new command-line tool to open an application without adding it to the Recent Applications menu. In this case, the app is the freshly-installed GrowlHelperApp. Furthermore, we now use the postflight field rather than both the postinstall and postupgrade variables, and our postflight script is now a shell script that runs both of the command-line tools.

Baleeted the post-install action to start Growl, since the prefpane will start Growl itself.

The Growl installer runs as root (at least on Leopard), so NSHomeDirectory() returns root's home directory, rather than the console (GUI) user's. Therefore, we must use System Configuration to get the home directory of the console user. This fixes the bug where Growl 1.1.2 (or earlier) would continue to show in System Preferences, because it was in the Home folder's Library/PreferencePanes folder and the 1.1.3 installer hadn't deleted it.

Added version number to the German About (Über) tab, in response to a forum thread demonstrating that it was missing (http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17510&p=106430#p106430). Also changed the sizes of all four buttons on that tab to 195 pt.

Baleeted the pre-install workflow actions, because the shell script that PackageMaker generates to fulfill them is @#*$#*! broken (x-radar://problem/5999458).
