Objectives

1. Provide option for user selectable units of measure (UOM)
2. Report area and distance measurements in configured UOM

Requirements

1. Systems of measurement must include metric and US.
2. Area, distance and vertical UOMs are independent (E.g., respectfully, hectares and nautical miles and feet should be allowed)

Considerations

• Consider making the UOM options either comprehensive or extensible, for instance, a firefighting specific application may want distances reported in "chains".
• Consider making an extensible UOM conversion/reporting mechanism. For example, in firefighting, short distances should be reported in chains and long distances should be reported in statute miles.
