I am using the HC-SR04 with a MKR1010 board. When I load the library ....

It appears to run fine but I am experiecing some odd issues so maybe not.

The timer methods work onky with avr, arm/samd processors won't work with the timer methods because each processor uses different hardware.

No idea if your hardware works, as I don't have your hardware to test. I do know the timer methods won't work, as those are specific to avr.
