Worked Time Chart - Data Permissions
We are trying to use worked timechart to display worklogs grouped by financial dimensions.
While JIRA Admins can see all data in the scope of this chart, non-admin users are seeing limited data in their charts, which is leading to misleading/incomplete information reporting.
There are no permissions or restrictions set on the Time Sheet add-on configuration.
Please advise what JIRA permissions drive the data on these charts.

Attached. Noticed for the same time period, the pie chart is rendering differently for Admins vs. non-admins.

Looks like configuration is different, first one has PMO_CAPACITY_BUSINESSOWNER... (group or project?), second has group PMO_Capacity_Tracking...
-
Account Deleted Screenshot is cropped, both are screenshots of same Confluence page just from different user machine. here's the setting:
"Summary for group(s) PMO_Capacity_Tracking_for_Finance and filter PMO_CAPACITY_BUSINESSOWNER_ALL grouped by Roadmap Title from 15/Mar/15 to 28/Mar/15 (Details)"
-
Account Deleted Andriy - I see what the issue is. You are correct that the configuration is different, not because settings was different but because of permissions on the filter used for this widget. I'm good. Closing issue. thanks much!

I see. Is it possible that the Roadmap Title field has restricted visibility, e.g. using custom plugin? Is the total the same in both cases?
Or corresponding issues have different visibility? Can you please try removing 'Group By' configuration option, and see if results are the same for both users?
Then remove filter or group. I.e. simplify gadget configuration, and try individual parameters to narrow down the problem.
Thank you.

Oh, ok, great!

Andriy - finding data discrepancies that are not filter based now. For the same widget (for a JIRA Team grouped by a field dimension), there is variance in total hours (some by 3 hours only and some by 300 hours) shown between admin and non admin users.
Strangely, there is no pattern in days, issue types, or users in this variance data set. I have same issue type showing hours for same users on one day, but missing for another day. Suggestions?
-
Does it have the difference without grouping?
-
Account Deleted yeah - it seems the hours stay different between admin vs non admin even when I remove the grouping. Display chart just defaults to show data grouped by users.
-
Is it possible to identify if hours differ for some particular users in result, when you scroll through dates?
-
Account Deleted For one specific group by clause where hours are off by 3 hours, I was able to identify users where these hours differ. The variance spans across 2 users across 2 different projects between 3/20, 3/23 and 3/24. Ironically, I'm finding these same users hours are included for other dates so its not a user issue. Also, other users hours are included for this time, so its not a time frame issue.
could it be how the hours were logged or anything to do with workflows/transitions?
-
Is it possible that admin and other user who is looking at chart have different time zones in profile?
Plugin has special support for different time zones, as described here: http://www.jiratimesheet.com/wiki/Multiple_Time_Zones.html, however it instead should lead to the same results disregarding who is viewing the timesheet/chart.
I'm a bit lost if you're using chart or timesheet gadget now. From a gadget you can click details link, and see where all hours go from, may be you then can identify exact difference.
-
Account Deleted Yeah- so I started with chart, clicked on "View Details" and compared the outputs of both users to isolate the gaps. In case of this grouping, Exact difference is these 3 hours for the 2 users over 3 days.
I'm lost too - there is no pattern in these yet.
-
So, same TimeSheet Report viewed by different users has different totals? And some hours are shifted over days?
-
Account Deleted Yes. I have been able to identify the hours that are different and these span over last few days. Hours are not shifting though, just missing if non admins view the same report.
-
Do the missing hours appear if you increase period - change end date? May be screen shots again please?
-
I've just realised there may be worklog visibility involved, is it possible?
After all, could you please enable debug logging, and see if anything is skipped by mistake, as described here: http://www.jiratimesheet.com/wiki/Frequent_Questions.html#Problem_Timesheet_does_not_show_anything

Andriy -
This was permissions issue on two projects, where project data was made available to certain Project Roles, but only selected users were mapped to this role instead of all JIRA-Users. This was skewing data from admin to non-admin users. Thanks for your help once again!

Great, thank you for figuring it out!

Hi Swati,
I can't imagine of anything else that could influence the result, assuming gadget configuration is the same too. Could you please provide screenshots?
Thank you.
