[TIME-251] Time sheet Report config page javascript loading fails in IE8 which leads to not working user picker and user autocomplete functionality

Issue #251 invalid
Andriy Zhdanov created an issue

Plugin version: 2.2.8

Hello,
we are facing problems with Time sheet report on one of our production environment
but only when IE8 is used as browser:

1, Project selection
2, Reports -> Time sheet report
3, While the page is loading we got an attached IE8 error message with question: stop running this script?
4, If NO is selected then the error is shown again and again in a loop
5, So I have to select Yes to be able to continue on that page
6, This error leads to not working user picker and user autocomplete functionality
due to stopped loading of javascrip

When tested via IE Development Tools I found following error in the IE console:
Operation aborted: batch.js, line 11 character 47403 or character 47376 (details in attached image)

I cannot find what is the root cause of this bug and unable to find any workaround

Thanks for any help

BR.Lukas

Sorry for delay, could you please check call stack in this tool?

Hello, thanks for reaction, well, there is nothing in the call stack (tab in development tools),
I attached the screen shot with it.
Actually the error is reproduceble only in one of our production servers and may be
caused by some inconsisent data in mysql database or so, but not sure about it.
Talking about it because what I found out is that am only able to reproduce this error if
use completelly the same database on some other testing Jira, otherwise the bug
cannot be reproduced on other Jiras which uses their own mysql database.
The bug was not present in that production jira before we upgraded it from 4.2 to 4.4.4
So it is reletad to upgrade.

Hello, we are still looking for the cause of that bug. At our test copy of our production JIRA(where we have that problem), removed almost all groups from ~2100 to ~50 and start to deleting projects where are bad reported issues, during that we noticed JS error message now doesn't show when we open Project Pivot Report setting

we stopped working on this issue, those are our notes from searching:
*CAS is set off, not related to problem
*deleted stuff from Lothar plugin and cleaning DB didn't help
*Pivot report the part of TimeSheet plugin also cause JS error message, even it not include Userpicker
*there is MS IE8 fix which may solve problem but only locally
*IE8 setting as Compability View not related to problem
    *not helped http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/User+Picker+autocomplete+field+does+not+work
about some bug from catalina , which should be by authors words ignored 4 years =) https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/browse/TIME-37
*removing TERP plugin if it cause troubles but then bug still appears
*we reduced amount of groups from ~2100 to ~50, when continue to deleting bad reported issues we noticed Project Pivot Report is without JS error message
*checked catalina logs, found message about timesheet report but by authors words it should be ignored https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/browse/TIME-37
*upgraded JIRA to 5.0.5 problem still there
*removed users with possible bad characters

Wow, you've performed a huge amount of work, it's a pity that with no luck. I wish I could help somehow.

So I'd close it is unresolved, but there no such way, so marking it as can't reproduce, which is true also.

Sorry, it can not be solved. Thank you for sharing details about your efforts.

    Hi Jan,

Recently someone has similar problem but with jira date picker, the resolution was the following:

"downgrading the JIRA Suite Utilities to 1.2.4 worked, the person we hired to do the upgrade had mistakenly installed 1.3.1, that’s only compatible with 5.1."

Please let me know if it somehow helps.

    Thank you.
