Time Sheet gadget won't refresh data in IE8

My users are reporting that the Time Sheet dashboard gadget does not reliably refresh data when using Internet Explorer 8 (a browser that JIRA itself does support). I tested and confirmed this using IE8 and just a default Time Sheet gadget.

Steps:

Log time directly to a ticket in the edit issue screen.
Use IE to refresh the Time Sheet dashboard.
Logged time is not shown on gadget.
Edit the Time Sheet gadget and just click save.
Time shows on gadget

Also, I removed time from a couple of tickets and it still shows on the dashboard after 5+ browser refreshes and about 20 minutes of elapsed time.

Editing time entries and refreshing the dashboard works fine in Chrome.
