Worked Time Chart gadget stores time frame settings locally

Issue #473 on hold
Former user created an issue

I'm using your plugin commercially and I've created 8 Dashboards with 12 'Worked Time Chart' gadgets each. I was about to set custom time frames (I need to use fixed time frames from the past, e.g. to compare this year quarter with last year) for each one of them to make this dashboard available to project managers. To my surprise I've realised that they won't see my settings since they are stored as client side cookies. So, whenever I want to access this Dashboard from other computer won't see time frame settings. When you copy a dashboard, time frame settings are lost. And even worse - after setting time frames and locking it with padlock for about 50 gadgets, this settings string exceeds cookie's max. size (4096), and you won't be able to set time frames any more. There is no error message or any information about max. limits in documentation.

In my opinion time frame settings should be stored in Jira DB just like all other gadget settings to make it securely persisted.

    Hi Hubert,

You're right, we will rework this soon, but can't give you any estimates yet, thank you for understanding.

    Hi Hubert,

Unfortunately, this does not seem feasible now.

Straight forward approach to use gadget preferences is not possible, because they are persisted only when dashboard is in editing mode, but not in view mode.

And implementing own gadget settings is out of plugin scope.

    Hope for your understanding.
