Time Report unable to save Excel file for specific date range

Opening this on behalf of the customer:

The 'Export' button does not function when clicking after setting up a report for a specific date range:

2016-06-16 - 2016-06-30 will not save 2016-07-16 - 2016-07-19 will save

The report itself does display data within the Time Reports UI

Looking at the JIRA log, there is no error being thrown. Is there a specific component we can enable logging against in JIRA?
