hierarchical setting of content type

Issue #319 new

We have hierarchical acls. Those enable us to set on a item rights which will be used on all children (subitems) of that page unless new acls set.

This hierarchical concept should not only be used for acls. It would be nice to force the contentype by this unless it is changed for childrens (subitems) too. So you could for example define all subitem of the item Images are only images and may be only jpeg images. Or all subitems of a plain text item are also have to be plain text.

acls of an item are not determined by the item/revision data present, so you can just set them like you want (hierarchical or non-hierachical).

but: the content-type IS determined by the item/revision data present, so you can't just enforce it on already present data like an acl. what would be possible is some kind of POLICY about this, used for creation of revisions, enforcing specific type.

But I think it is a bit questionable whether this is really useful, so please explain why it is useful.

this sounds pretty much like an "acceptable usage" policy for your wiki users that doesn't need to be enforced by moin. if somebody doesn't conform to that policy, there is still the possibility to delete or destroy the content again.
