Technical setup

The TRB142 from Teltonika is a IoT gateway with a RS232 interface. The Alde Heater Panel supports RS232 TTL Lv3, so a RS232 TTL Converter solves the voltage problem for us. The software is a telegram bot running on the TRB142 and does the messaging transformation (decode and encode for the heater panel).

The right site demonstrates the previous setup, which is no longer valid for use in Switzerland due the lack of a 2G network provider. Many other countries also affected, see Wikipedia 2G Phase-out.

Adapter

Today (12.03.2023) the new adapter arrived. Colleague had time and soldered the wires already and I could assemble it in the new case. Check out after weekend for new installation pictures!!!

More information how to wire can be find in this chapter RS232

Previous Setup

The current setup is just for demonstration and has a design problem. I ordered the female instead of male adapter of the RS232 TTL converter, therefore i needed to add 2 more adapters (male/male and one for crossover). New shipping is on the way. The artekit RS232 TTL converter comes with a case too. Stay tuned for new setup.

Fails

I lost many hours / days by using a cheap TTL converter. Converter tested and everything was fine, but as soon there was the VCC pin connected the connector heated up and failed to work after a few messages. Instead of throwing away this piece of sh... from chine I searched the failure in the setup. The new converter from artekit works as expected and comes with a nice case too.
