'xxx' status failed -- Unix socket xxx.sock connection error --No such file or directory

Hello! I have just met a problem that I seldom can not start monit because of the error like the title.

My control file is:

set httpd unixsocket xxx/run/monit.sock
allow admin:monit

And my version is 5.28.0.

Could you please help me to solve it? Thanks a lot!

Monit does not handle relative pathe, use an absolute path and the used folder must be available also.

set httpd unixsocket /var/run/monit.sock
allow admin:monit

Thanks for your answer. I check my control file again and then find out that I have used an absolute path. I am sorry for my wrong description. This problem has only occurred once.

Hello and thanks for your response.

To find problems and get some more information what will go wrong you can start monit with Option “-v” (verbose) and “-I” (run in foreground), if something does not work as expected.

Nice to know the problem occurred only once, I could not reproduce the problem too.
