monit 5.8 reports doubled Port Response time

after update from 5.7 to 5.8 monit is reporting Port Response time which is around double size than before the update in an otherwise unaltered environment

In 5.8 we added some extra milliseconds poll time when testing socket connection to prevent spurious connection errors on long distance connects or on high latency networks. This would probably have a small effect on the reported response time.
On closer inspection, this extra poll is unnecessary if there already is a protocol test to perform and this commit fixes this. This should make the response time appear as before. If you care to test, you can download and try the latest version
