Please check whether you have the following statement in your monit configuration file:

set logfile syslog

Monit doesn't log anything by default, unless the "set logfile" statement is added.

Yes, we checked, "set logfile" was present. We changed the default logging to verbose, messages were updated in /var/log/monit.log.
