Feature Request - provide a "$FQDN" variable
Issue #508
new
monit could use a "$FQDN" variable, that just works like the old "$HOST" variable by doing DNS lookups.
It will be useful, but if it does not make it into the default configuration nobody will shot himself in the foot.

Hi,
I would also consider a corresponding variable (e.g. $FQDN) as meaningful.

+1 Completely helpful

+1 helpful also because on our centos servers, monit 5.25.2 while parsing its configuration file resolves $HOST as ... localhost
Note: I think the configs of our servers are fine, however I can provide you the files.

Hi,
Is this request been considered? Would it be too costly to implement? The FQDN functionality could be truly helpful for running several monit instances under system with shared filesystems (Personally i haven't updated from 5.16 due to the removal of this functionality on 5.17)
