Add "generic" command to process definition
It would be great if "generic" commands could be defined for a process, and then appear on the UI to be run with a button.
Some processes have more than start, stop, restart as reasonable interventions.
Not exactly monitoring, but closely related.

A nice idea, today it's tricky to use different start/stop commands or an additional siginit to reload the process/application configuration. Lutz

I open the #773 : add a passive mode for specific checks.
I think it is related to your question.
My idea is simpler : add passive checks; monit has to do nothing, only show the [START] and [STOP] buttons on the web UI (if there are defined start and stop commands).

repo owner @saltlake71 I think the generic commands are useful - it can be also used in the alert rule as a custom action, without need to use "exec" action and repeat all arguments for each rule

I think the local (for check) passive is simpler to-do (pls see my #773).
I agree this generic seems to be more versatile... but also requires more documentation (and testing ?), is a totally new concept.

Fool me! I read the manual but I don't understand I can use passive in each single check instance.
For our simpler cases, we solved with passive. Thanks.

Dup of #762 - nevertheless a great idea.
