Description: failed protocol test [MONGODB] at [10.0.0.1]:27017 [TCP/IP] -- MONGODB: PING response error -- invalid reply

i'm unable to reproduce the problem, using mongodb 4.0.5 and the following monit configuration:

check host localhost with address 127.0.0.1
    if failed port 27017 protocol mongodb then alert

Monit logs:

'localhost' succeeded testing protocol [MONGODB] at [127.0.0.1]:27017 [TCP/IP] [response time 1.749 ms]
'localhost' connection succeeded to [127.0.0.1]:27017 [TCP/IP]

No errors on mongod side

Please can you get a network trace of the communication between monit and mongod? (using for example wireshark).
