Monit cannot send email using OAuth2

Issue #885 new
Dave Purdy created an issue

Currently Monit cannot send notices via gmail -without- “less secure apps” access turned on in google’s gmail settings. In Feb 2021 the option to enable “less secure apps” will be removed by google - no access to Gmail w/ OAuth2. Please provide a solution to this, by either 1) building in the capability to do that, or perhaps 2) creating something similar to the “Slots” for “Event Numbers”, but rather with the “Notices in Text Form” that can be handed of to a lightweight handler such as MSMTP (which does handle OAuth2).

The removal of “less secure apps” access for Google accounts has been moved forward to May 30th, 2022. However, I doubt that it will be moved again. Has any progress been made here?

Google has now gotten rid of “less secure app” support and I haven't gotten any email from my Monit instance since May 30th. Is OAuth2 support forthcoming?

Thanks for the notification. Seems this is something we will need to add to our SMTP implementation. Most likely first in M/Monit
