messages page stops updating after mhttpd restart

after restarting mhttpd, the messages page stops updating. it looks like failure of RPC is not handled (btw, I added a dialog popup to all rpc exception handlers), and some update timers are not restarted. Stefan, can you take a look at it? K.O.
