if the frontend that requested a deferred transition dies before completing it, the system becomes stuck, requests to start/stop run a rejected (i.e. STOP: cm_transition status 111, message 'Deferred transition already in progress'). There is no obvious way to recover from this state. K.O.

current midas shows the "cancel" button which correctly cancels the deferred transition and clears out transition state, even if the deferred-transition client has died. K.O.
