Removing uploaded files

Issue #135 wontfix
Rafael Ayala created an issue

It would be nice to auto-delete uploaded files in a specified period of time. Our QATrack is working in a virtual machine with limited hard drive space, we don t want to fill it with files that we already have stored in a network drive. Of course this can be done manually but it could be more interesting to do it inside QATrack. Thanks.

    Hi Rafael,

At first I didn't think there was any easy way to do this from within QATrack+, but then I discovered Django Cron (https://github.com/Tivix/django-cron) which looks like it might do the trick.

I'm not going to guarantee this will get implemented but I will investigate it. I can see other situations where this type of automatically scheduled job might be nice to have :)

In the meantime, if you are using a Linux virtual machine, you can use a cron job like the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11119985/cronjob-to-remove-files-older-than-99-days

Similarly on Windows you could write a little batch script (see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/51054/batch-file-to-delete-files-older-than-n-days) and then use the Windows Task scheduler to run it every week (or day or month or...)

Going to close this as I don't think it's of general interest. Also deleting files can make going back to review/edit test lists problematic.
