Missing Jenkins plugin source code

Issue #5 closed
NotMyFault created an issue

Hello @Torsten Ehrhorn ,

I was unable to find the source code of your plugin “pragprog”. The pom points to this repository, but, it appears that the source code is locked behind closed doors.

We, the Jenkins project, require that plugins we host are open source and accessible. To continue the hosting of pragprog, I would like to ask you to make the source code in this repository public no later than February the 24th, 2023, after which I start the process to suspend distribution of this plugin from the Jenkins update center.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter, feel free to reach out to me via email (disclosed on my GitHub profile) with any additional questions.

Best regards,

Alexander Brandes

    Hi Alexander,

the Pragprog plugin is a project that I haven't maintained for a while now. Before I started the project I received a limited permission from the publisher Pearson Education to use the tips from the book “The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master”. That limited permission was the reason why I never released the source code as open source.

I think the outdated source code, the few actual installations and this issue are good reasons to retire the Pragprog plugin. Please do so and start the process to suspend distribution of this plugin from the Jenkins update center.

Thanks for your work on the Jenkins project - a tool I use every day…

    Kind regards

    Torsten
