nightly installer problems

Issue #3 resolved

  • Windows XP SP2 + lot's of patches

no UI comes up (tortoisehg - right click....)

e.g. hgtk.exe false with

entry point g_timeout_add_seconds_full could not be located in dynamic link library libglib-2.0-0.dll

My assumption is that this is again a problem with the system wide installed gtk+ 2.14 from latest pidgin on windows - but not sure....

I've also noticed this. I'm beginning to regret checking in the GTK files into the forest. This probably causes what you're seeing. We should remove those and copy them out of the user's GTK install (using the environment variable, I guess)

I have tried to install TortoiseHg-090215 and it doesn't seem to work. "hgtk about" complains about libpng13 missing, and if I search %ProgramFiles%\TortoiseHg I find libpng12. I haven't looked into this, but it puzzles me since I thought that py2exe always grabbed the correct files.

If I add a libpng13 I get other linking errors from GTK:

    C:> hgtk about
    Traceback (most recent call last):
File "hgtk", line 526, in <module>
File "hgtk", line 46, in dispatch
File "hgtk", line 86, in _runcatch
File "hgtk", line 141, in runcommand
      File "hggtk\__init__.pyc", line 9, in <module>
    gobject.GError: Unable to load image-loading module: /target/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/
loaders/libpixbufloader-ico.dll: The specified module could not be found.

It puzzles me why it says "/target/lib", and not some path on my system

I'm pretty sure I know what caused this, as it happened to me this week. py2exe pulls in DLLs from your $PATH to fill symbol requirements. It will pull libglib from one place and libpango from another if you let it. Also, the GTK folks have nicely changed the APIs of at least some of the DLLs without incrementing their version numbers. Thus you get this situation where the resulting dist\ directory is disfunctional.

Making sure C:\GTK\bin is first in your path seems to help quite a bit. Recopying \lib and \etc into the thg-installer\dist also helps. I even went so far as to uninstall TortoiseHg while I built a new package with the new GTK code.

I've updated the wiki with the packages I'm using to build the new nightly packages this week.
