The problem that you are experiencing is due to the fact that Mercurial 1.9 included a number of changes that broke compatibility with existing extensions, including the kbfiles extension that is included with Kiln. We have produced a new version of the Kiln Client that is compatible with and includes Mercurial 1.9 and TortoiseHg 2.1.1. We will be releasing it to Kiln On Demand customers at 10 PM tonight. You will be able to access the updated Kiln Client by navigating to http://<yourservername> and selecting Kiln Client and Tools from the Resources menu at the top right corner of the screen. Once the upgrade is completed, you should no longer experience this problem. We apologize for any difficulty that this may have caused.

I've recently been informed that the Kiln upgrade has been delayed by one day until tomorrow July 26, 2011, at 10 PM. In the meantime, the issue can be worked around by either disabling the kbfiles extension in your C:\Users\<yourname>\Mercurial-kiln.ini file or by temporarily downgrading to Mercurial 1.8 or earlier. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

it appears to be sufficient to download the plugins-only zipfile (from the url provided by David), use it to replace everying of the same name under `<program files>\Kiln Client`, and delete the folder labelled `kbfiles`.
