Issue #1333 duplicate

Ubuntu 11.10 - TortoiseHG doesn't show up in Nautilus context menu

Hi all,

I am tentatively in the process of upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10. I am testing it out in a virtual machine and my netbook. So far I only have one problem I can't seem to get TortoiseHG working. I have the ppa's properly mapped and installed (as I have since 9.04). I can execute thg from the terminal and workbench starts. Nothing shows up in nautilus' context menu.

I get the following error showing up in the terminal:

(python:2216): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap"

QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: No such file or directory

QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /home/troy/.config/TortoiseHG/thg-reporegistry.xml

Thanks, Troy

All three of those warnings are unrelated to the nautilus problems. The problem there is simple, it hasn't had a maintainer in about three years. Undoubtedly it is beyond stale.

Steve, i am not sure I follow. Are you saying that the ppa's for tortoisehg are out of date? I am using similar ones on my ubuntu 10.10 installation.

    i am using: ppa:tortoisehg-ppa/releases

    And for mercurial: ppa:mercurial-ppa/releases

ppa:tortoisehg-ppa/releases seems to be maintained. Latest release 2.1.1-0ppa1 is from 2011-10-13. I have tried ppa:tortoisehg-ppa/releases and ppa:tortoisehg-ppa/stable-snapshots and both are not working as already reported here.

Same problem here with Ubuntu 11.10.

I can run "thg" from the terminal (with some minor error reports) but nothing from the Nautilus interface.

Same problem: Unbuntu 11.10 x64, no solution found so far.

After removing the package (tortoisehg), all icons restored. The contextual menu for tortoise HG never appears when installed.

here is a work around till they fix it.

    START=$(pwd)
    sudo apt-get install mercurial tortoisehg
    mkdir -p ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/
    cd ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/
    hg clone https://bitbucket.org/slashuer/nautilus_mercurial_scripts
    mv nautilus_mercurial_scripts/Mercurial/ .
    rm -R nautilus_mercurial_scripts/
    cd $START
