Is it possible to set table width to auto?

I've been playing a little with the markdown and I only have one issue. Tables are shown with width: 100% by default. In my opinion this makes most of the tables hard to read, specially because they don't have an outter border.

Is there a way to change this? Maybe through HTML into the markdown?
