Download macOS log error when first opening

When first opening the Download macOS window, if the user clicks the button to open the log an error occurs stating “The log file could not be found at /Library/Logs/mdshelper.log.” Closing the log window and reopening it does not repeat the error.
Also log output does not appear to show in the log window after this occurs and the user starts a download operation.
