mds variables not working 2.1

I am setting mds_var1 to collect jamf trigger name to pass to script. Was working in MDS 2.0. Now not working in MDS 2.1. Leaving all settings the same. Workflow starts to run (reformats) but then get “Found an unknown workflow item.” popup. Lets me chose another workflow and can proceed with an alternative workflow not using variables.

FYI - have tried with latest build 21847 and getting same error. Is the custom_variables.sh (from your sample scripts) needed in the workflow for variables to work? Attaching install.log. Thanks.

Can you include a copy of the /var/log/install.log from recovery?
