Add Time and Date check before running the /Volumes/mds/run

We have a laptop skipping "Remote Management" we need to wait a long time, or sometimes re run mds. Then we discovered a few days ago that the laptops having problems are the ones that has been drained out of power because they have been locked in a cart but not charging, their time and date got messed up when we turn them back on. So we tried the following. Before running /Volumes/mds/run, we issue the date command first "Date 081310192020" to set the machine date time to the current. I never encountered the issue again...so far.

@tperfitt In light of our discovery of the time and date getting messed up after battery drain for a long time, I wonder if there is way to add a utility to check for network time and set the machine date/time before running the main script?
