Gen 8 / 10 MacBook Air - T2 Chip Unable to Boot to External HDD

When wiping a newer MacBook (2018-19) with a T2 Chip, recovery mode is re-downloaded with 10.14 Mojave meaning that MDS does not run as it requires 10.15 Catalina Python dependency.

Unable to boot to a 10.15 Catalina external drive due to the T2 Chip.

Does anyone have a better option other than downloading Mojave, Upgrading to Catalina and then booting to Catalina to get MDS to run?

that should not be the case. it should boot to catalina. see this article:

I appreciate your prompt response. Command + Option + R downloads the latest recovery mode available (I did not know this). Thanks for the support with this one.
