When adding .apps they are repackaged during the image build which takes time. Currently manually copying the packages apps from the build image and adding them to the workflow instead of the apps after first build to speed up the testing process.
Can an option be added to convert the apps to packages so they can just be copied quickly into the image during the build rather than converted and copied on each build.

Definitely. In the meantime, just grab the packages that MDS creates from the Deploy->Workflows folder, and replace the app with the package, and MDS will use that package the next time around.
